Garments Measurements



Easurement Instructions:

Bust/Chest:

a) With front of garment facing you, measure straight across bust/chest from side to side of armholes seam.

b) On garments with pleats, fully extend pleats without stretching fabric.


Across chest:

1.       With front of garment facing you, measure 5 in, down from high shoulder point parallel to center front. Mousier straight occurs 5 in from armhole to armhole.
Sweep garment with vents or shirttail Hems:
a) Lay garment flat in closed position.

b)Measure straight okras  from side to side at top of vend or shirttail hem.

Sweep- Garment with straight Hems:

a) Lay garment flat in closed position.
b) Measure from side to side along bottom of garment.

Front Length:

1. Measure from high shoulder point, down front body, to bottom of germent.

Take measurements with:

a) A dressmakers or fiberglass coated tope measure (checked periodically ongoing a metal ruler to assure accuracy).
b) Garments laid on a flit surface in a relaxed position.
c) All wrinkles gently smoothed out.
d) Buttons and/or zippers fully closed (unless otherwise stated).

Across Shoulder:

a) With bock of garment racing you,locate shoulder pints (where shoulder seam meets fop of Charlemagne, or where natural fold of shoulder  meets top of armhole) on each side of garments.

b) Measure straight across shoulders from point to point.

c) If  garments is sleeveless, measure  exuding  any  firm  at  amole.

Across Bock:
1.       With bock or garment taking you measure 4 in,down from high shoulder point parallel to center back.
2.       Measure across at 4 in. Mark from armhole to armhole.

Center Back Length:

a) Measure from center of back neck some, down center of the back, to bottom of garment.

Shoulder Slope:

a) Draw an imaginary line parallel with hem from high shoulder point out to  shoulder width .
b) From that point, measure straight down to shoulder point.

Sleeve Length – Garments  With  set -in-Sleeves:

a) With back of garment facing you, measure half of shoulder width starting of center back neck, to shoulder point at top of armhole, than along center fold of sleeve to cuff edge.

Vent  Height:

a) Measure from bottom edge of garment to top of vent opening.

Sleeve Length – Garments  with Raglan Sleeves:

a) Lay garment with back facing you.
b)Measure from center back neck at base of neck, in a straight line down sleeve, to sleeve edge.

Armeseye-Roglan Bock:

a) Lay bock of garment forcing you with body panel  lying flat (without wrinkles of armhole seam).
b) Measure form base of neck following contour of seam to armhole side seam intersection point.

Armseye-Raglan Front:

a) Lay Garment with front facing you and body panel  lying flat (without wrinkles at armhole seam).
b)Measure from base of neck folloeing contour of seam to armhole/side seam intersection.

Armseye-Sleeved & Sleeveless:

a) Lay garment with front facing you with body panel  lying flat (without wrinkles at armhole seam).

b)Following armhole seam contour, measure from bottom of armhole to top of armhole keeping tape on body side of seam.

a) Care must be taken to rotate tope measure so that measuring edge is absolutely flit oblong armhole seam.

Upper arm:

a) Measure 1 in,down from underarm, then from that point measure straight across sleeve perpendicular to center fold of sleeve.

Elbow:

a) Fold sleeve in half, so edge of cuff is positioned at bottom of armhole.
b) Measure straight across this fold from underarm to center fold.

Cuff opening:

a) Measure straight across bottom of sleeve from underarm side of cuff to center fold side of cuff.
b) For button cuff, cuff should be measured closed and buttoned on first button.

Cuff Height:

a) Measure from cuff/sleeve seam down to edge of cuff.

Neck Width:

a) Lay garment flat.
b) Measure straight across from high shoulder point to high shoulder point at base of ribbing or collar.
c)If there is no coller or firm, measure form edge to edge of high shoulder point.

Front Neck Depth:

a) Lay garment flat with front facing you.
b) Draw on imaginary line at base of neck, From hogh shoulder point to high shoulder point.
c) From that center point, measure straight down to ace of ribbing or collar at center front.

Back Neck Depth:

a) Lay garment flat with back facing you.
b) Draw on imaginary line at base of neck, from high shoulder point to high shoulder point.
c)From that center point, measure straight down to ace of ribbing or collar at center back.

Collar Height:

a) Measure at center back from base of coller to top outer edge of collar.

Collar Length at Outer Efge:

a) Undo all the buttons and lay collar flat so that inside of garment is facing you.
b)Measure along collar edge from collar point to collar point.

Collar Point:

1.Lay collar flat.
2.Measure along collar edge from collar point to collar point.
3.If there is no collar bond,measure from neck seam to collar point.

Collar Band Hight :

a) Measure at center back from neck line seam to top of band.

Collar base Edge-With or Without Band:

a) Undo all buttons and lay collar flat with inside of garment facing you.
b) Measure along collar base from edgeto edge.
c) If garment has a zipper exclude the zipper from.

Neck Circumference:

a) Undo all buttons and lay collar flat so that inside of garment is facing  you.
b)Measure from center of button to farthest end of stitched edge to finished edge.

Placket Width:

a) Measure placket on exterior of garment from seam or stitched edge to finished edge.

 Placket Lenth:

a) Measure placket on exterior of garment from top edge to bottom seam or stitched edge.

Pocket Width-Exterior:

a) Measure the pocket across the top opening edge to edge.

Pocket Length-Exterior:

a) Measure at longest point from top opening edge to bottom finished edge.
